NCCMA INAUGURATION SPEECH
The Northern California Chinese Media Association is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Current membership includes nineteen organizations from the print media, which include newspapers and magazines, electronic media, which include radio and television broadcasters, and new media, which include internet companies. I remember 2 years ago, when Ms Lily Chou became the President of NCCMA, she talked about change. Today I will talk about unity. I hope all Chinese media will be united, not for their own sake or benefit, but for the interest of the people in our community. People that reply on media to get the latest government policies, resources, and news. For the past 18 years, members of NCCMA, through their respective media organizations, have provided Northern California's Chinese community with unbiased, timely, and detailed news and entertainment programs. The NCCMA is dedicated to protecting the rights and welfare of the local Chinese community and keeping them abreast of current issues in the United States, Asia and the world. I sincerely invite those who have left NCCMA to come back to our family.
This year, we have 2 goals. One is to continue with our signature event, our annual awards fundraising dinner. I hope all of you will support the organization by committing to the sponsorship of a table or an even higher level of sponsorship. The other goal is to organize a Voter Registration Campaign. We have our first Chinese American Mayor Ed Lee in San Francisco, the first Chinese American and female Mayor Jean Quan in Oakland. Maybe one day we will have the first Asian American Governor in California or even the first Asian American President of the United States! To achieve this, we need all Asians to work together and vote. So the Voter Registration Campaign will bring awareness to our audience and readers, and encourage more people to come out and vote. United we can achieve our goal!
This inauguration ceremony preparation really shows unity among Northern California Chinese Media Association members. I would like to especially thank our first Vice President Karman Liu, second Vice President David Pang, Secretary Peter Ho and our member Diana Ding for your tremendous effort in putting this great event together!
